OkayAfrica has unveiled its 100 Women List where they spotlight 100 Women African in Africa and the Diaspora who are making major waves.
The women on the 2020 list were selected by OkayAfrica who are just getting started on their journeys, and who have laid the groundwork in different sectors including film, art and media.
In the 2020 list, there are a couple of Ghanaian women who would we would like to highlight:
Amaarae - Singer, Songwriter, Producer
Amaarae is a Ghanaian singer-songwriter-producer whose EP, Passionfruit Summers earned her recognition from Apple Music and got her named as Africa’s
Vanessa Gyimah - Make Up Artist And Beauty Influencer
Vanessa Gyimah is make up artist and beauty influencer. She's been featured on platforms like Essence and Buzzfeed for her engaging tutorials and her trendsetting.
Sandy Alibo - Skate Board Community Manager
In 2016, Sandy Alibo founded Surf Ghana, a skateboarding community inspired by her passion for skating.
In 2019, she created a partner group called Skate Gal Club, exclusively for and by women.
Nana Oforiatta Ayim - Writer/Historian
Nana Oforiatta Ayim is a historian who recently debuted her novel,“The God Child”, which took 10 years to write, was released to critical acclaim.
She is also pioneering a pan-African Cultural Encyclopedia which plans to map and archive historical and contemporary culture across Africa in 54 volumes for the 54 countries.
Nana Agyemang - Multimedia Journalist
Nana Agyemang is a multimedia journalist who is currently the social media editor at New York Magazine.
She's also worked at Refinery29, ELLE Magazine, New York Times and BBC News as a strategist, video host, spokesperson and writer.
Lucy Quist - Managing Director At Morgan Stanley
Lucy Quist was the former CEO of Airtel Ghana and is currently the Managing Director in technology transformation at Morgan Stanley.
She also co-founder the Executive Women Network (EWN), a non-profit organization she co-founded for women in senior management and executive positions in the private sector, as well as women entrepreneurs in Ghana.
Karen Attiah - Journalist
Karen Attiah is currently the Global Opinions Editor of the Washington Post and has been an outspoken critic of the Saudi and US Government in the assassination of one of the Washington Post's journalists.
She was awarded ‘Journalist of the Year’ by the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).
Brianna Agyemang - Senior Director Of Marketing At Atlantic Records
Brianna Agyemang is currently the senior director of marketing at Atlantic Records and is also the Co-founder of The Brownie Agency.
